updates...
Could that be Harold & Kumar going to Vegas?

My garden looks pretty much the same. If you look closely though, you can see that the plants have grown!

Looks like William is right, it is getting pretty crowded! But that's a good thing, well, for me, that means I took good care of them!
Hmm..looks like the left side of the window box looks good.

However....on the right side, one plant died :( but that means there's more space for the other plants.

Pictures of Lake Elizabeth.

All ATMs should have a reboot button!!!
Have you ever had an atm machine freeze on you? Well, it did on me!!!! I put in my card, punch in my pin and it froze. I stood there for 5 min thinking it would unfreeze itself. Who was I kidding? It was probably running windows or something. And why is it so hard to get to the option of speaking to an operator? Actually, there isn't a "speak to a person" option and nope, 0,*, or # don't take you there. After exhausting the entire menu, I realized there wasn't an option to speak to someone. To be able to speak to a rep, you have to select an option like, check your balance or something and then when asked to input the account number, enter some junk (because if you enter your account # correctly, you don't get to speak to someone). When I was finally routed to an operator (some 15 to 20 minutes later), she said "it what?" and kept laughing. Was it funny or something? I didn't think so. Anyways, doesn't this make you wanna think twice about putting your debit card into an ATM machine now? Why don't ATMs have "ctrl", "Alt", & a "Delete" buttons or even a reboot machine?

Spring Project Part I

Welcome to my little garden. This is actually my try it again project. Earlier attempts (2005 & 2006) ended sadly. Hopefully this year, it will be different, because if I fail again I will never hear the end of ~I told you so~ from you know who....I really really want to prove him wrong.
Despite what Alan says, I remain very hopeful. They are gonna live!!!! Well, every year I am closer to being able to keep my plants alive so why can't it be this year? This time I made sure I had a proper drainage system (such as adding a layer of crushed pine cones on the bottom and made sure there are holes on the bottom for extra water to flow out), I made sure I didn't cramp them together so they have room to grow, and last but not least, I made sure that I didn't merely just place the new plants on top of the soil in the new containers but actually submerge them in the new soil. Now, as long as I remember to water them and feed them regularly, they shouldn't die on me.

Coyote Hills
Here's some pictures from today's bird watching adventure at Coyote Hills. Spring is here. The trees and the birds told me so.

I luv it when it's warm!
Oh my gosh it's beautiful outside. Yikes, I'm such a slacker..hope no one from work ever finds this blog (because I should be working right now)..hehe...or at least no one that will rat on me. So what did I do? Around 4 PM, I went to starbucks for ice tea and cookies. Then I sat outside and enjoy the sun and my little snack! What a little retreat! It's wonderful to have a park right by my work place. It was so very nice! Makes me envy those kids playing outside. .....I guess I don't have to envy, I was a kid once upon a time, so I did get my share of the sun. I guess it's kinda like timeshare or something... Oh I know! I can be an at home mom and enjoy the sun with my kid(s) in the afternoon! Ya! That's an idea! Although I don't think this idea will get approved any time soon. Anyways....this makes me wonder, so the first 18 years or so of our life, we get to enjoy the sun and be lazy in the afternoon....and is that it? Do we have to wait until we're old, gray and wise/senile before we can do that again?

A Day in the City
View From the Fairmont Hotel (Crown Room)
Ever been in the crown room of the Fairmont Hotel? It's got the greatest view of San Francisco. No wonder it's a 5 star hotel!!! Too bad the only camera I had with me was the camera on my phone. But better than nothing!

If you're rich and got too much money, then it's definitely the place to get hitched.
The Best Vietnamese Sandwich Ever
I often say that the Vietnamese sandwiches here (the bay area) are not as good as the ones in Southern California. My coworker from my non 9 to 5 job took me to this Vietnamese Sandwich place in SF that was soooooooo good that I have to take what I said back! The best $2.50 I have ever spent.

(560 Larkin St. San Francisco, CA 94102)
He said this place is so good that culinary students from around the corner would line up outside the place all the time. Honestly, I didn't believe him until I got a taste of the sandwich myself! It was sooooooooooo good. The best Vietnamese Sandwich ever!

If you're ever in town, you gotta try it.
Kippy Marks
OK, so I've seen all sorts of interesting people on the streets of SF all the time, but none was as interesting to me as Kippy Marks was.
Why? Because he is an excellent violinist! He's got this jazzy/techno like music going on and was absolutely great at improvising. Click here to go this website.

Black?!!!!
um..ok everyone, what is my favorite color? Green of course!!! (not black!) will someone tell alan that? On our way to Kirkwood this morning, he said, don't worry honey, we'll only go on greens and blues (so i just followed him blindly)...and the first run, what did he do? he took me up a black! the dude who was sharing the lift with us said, what, green? the only thing green about this trail are the trees!!! yikes...and he was not kidding! funny? not funny! the last time i went down black I ended up with a fractured tail bone! i sat at the top, reluctant to go down for perhaps 30 minutes before I finally took the plunge..it was one of those "now or never" kinda thing...and for the record, i've never been so scared and pissed at the same time before! But eventually, I got tired of sticking my tongue out at the husband. Dang, did you know that it's tiring to look pissed all the time (that expression in the picture took a lot more muscles to produce than if I were to smile)? Other than that little glitch, it was pretty fun, it's been too long since we went snowboarding, perhaps since Feb of 2005...so 2 years ago?!!!

I love the 80's

Why do I love the 80's (mid to late) so much? Whenever I think of the 80's, I always feel warm and fuzzy inside and at time get really really really homesick (or should i say timesick?)...homesick in this way is cozy and nice. This could be why I love songs from the 80's. Music has a way of bringing me back in time, sometimes it can almost feel like it's w/in reach but years away (if that makes any sense). It was a time of cartoons and fun ..all those relaxing days in the sun ....surrounded by lots and lots of love. Life was wonderful, not that it's not wonderful now, but it was wonderful in a different way, um...in a kid's way (when you don't need much of anything to be content and happy and safe). Darn it, why did I have to grow up so quickly? ....where's a time machine when you need one? I need a time a machine and umm...a reverting machine - to shrink me back to kid size and zap me with a kid's mentality cuz I think if I were to go back to the 80's as is, I might as well stay here in 2007...cuz darn it, I need modern day conveniences..like a high tech game console, ipod, cell phone, LCD TV, HD...and the internet!
Must be Valentine's Day Again
For Valentine's day, Alan cooked his usual (same every year) Green Bean Casserole. How sweet (I know)! Well, let's see, I'm making Low Sodium Beef Stew right now, therefore it must be Valentine's day today! Oh, it must have been valentine's day on Tuesday too cuz um..let's see, I made dinner on Tuesday! yay, it's Valentine's Day almost everyday! But wait, it's one sided...how come I get to feel special only once a year and for Alan it's Valentine's day almost every day? Hmm..no fair! Starting tomorrow, I'm gonna go on a strike...no more home cooked meals....

Happy Valentine's Day!
Experience love from Sophie B. Hawkin's song, As I lay me Down. It is such a feel good song. Doesn't it make you wanna go and sit on a swing and just enjoy the day? Happy Valentine's Day!

What's going on?
It's Feb 11 and there were people at the gym earlier tonight and people at the gym on Saturday morning! Wow, I'll have to take back what I say about people and their new year resolutions. Don't ask me about my 2007's resolutions..hahaha..cuz I'll say what resolutions? btw..another plant just died on me...I don't know what's wrong, is it not enough water, too much water, or not enough sunlight? Darn it, why couldn't it just tell me what it wanted! Plants are so difficult to please. Oh I know (back to the gym topic), must because of V day, that's why people were at the gym, trying to either get a date or impress their dates. that must be it! Speaking of V day, you know what Mr. P's gonna get to do? He's gonna get to eat the cookies I baked for him 4 years ago! Yup, that's right. We were doing some cleaning a couple of months ago and um and I found them still in their tin can and if I remember correctly, someone had told me that he loved the cookies and had ate them all. well well well, this V day I'm giving him another chance to prove how much he loves the cookies (cuz he still claims that he loved the cookies)? Don't you think that's a good idea? I think so. Those white specks you see on the cookies, I have no idea what it is. I don't remember them being there back in 2003. hahaha!

Maternal Instinct?

Contrary to what most people believe, up until recently, I was never too fond of babies. Sure they are cute to look at with their big heads and chubby cheeks but that's all, I just want to look at them. Touch them? Um..no thanks. I would go to the extent to holding them but once they start crying, it's time to return them to the parents. To understand why this is so, here's a little history.
---------------
I was 16 when my brother was born. Anyhow, the first thing I learned about babies was that they don't sleep when you sleep and their cries are the loudest when you're most sleepy. And oh, make no mistake, baby's crap stinks! Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! Not exactly very fun. I learned early on that baby equals dirty diapers and lots of bottles. But that wasn't what bothered me the most. What bothered me the most were the stares I would get from people thinking that I was a teenage mother...um...how about thinking that I am aunt or sister or even a babysitter eh?.....people are so pessimistic! UGH!
------
So perhaps, this experience has pushed me away from babies/toddlers/young kids for a while. Babies? No thanks, I had my fun. Don't need one of those for another lifetime. But strangely, this has not been the case for me in the past year. Every time I see a baby, I have this strange desire to want to make them laugh. Why are their laughs so cute? ARGGH?!! What's happening to me? Are babies just getting cuter? Scary!
-------------
Going off topic here...I can't help but feel a little guilty when I see my bird, dawg, sitting on 2 wooden eggs. I read that a lovebird will keep having eggs until they feel that there are enough to start incubation period. So, if you keep taking the egg out, the lovebird will keep having them, which is not healthy as producing an egg requires a lot of calcium. Plus, they need to go through an incubation period before they can go back to their normal activities. So, if you disrupt this cycle, the bird will keep having eggs and never get out of the laying egg cycle. Not good cuz during this egg laying mode, the bird gets very moody. Mr. P used to take the eggs out and boil them and then return them to the bird and let her sit on it. Last Sunday, I found some wooden egg at Michael's so now, we just exchange them. Does Dawg not know that her egg is white while the eggs from Michael's is brown? hmmm...she is currently sitting on them. It's kinda funny..but kinda sad in a way...but it's important to provide birdy-birth control...

New Year Resolution
Must be the new year because there were tons of people at the gym on Friday night and tons of people at the gym on Saturday morning. I wonder how long before it goes back to normal, when the gym is empty on Friday nights and Saturday mornings. My guess is that in 2 weeks or so.hehe..sorry for be so pessimistic but history is likely to repeat itself and soon I won't have a problem finding a parking spot at the gym. Yes! Anyhow, 21 days after new year, I finally have my resolutions . Let's see how long mine will last.
My new year resolution is to
1)Conserver Water - turn off water when I'm shampooing etc.
2)Conserve Energy - yes Mr. P, that means turning off the lights when I leave a room
3)Keep my plants alive and - yes, that means watering them..I know.
4)Get my resting heart rate below 80 - Did you know that Lance Armstrong's resting heart rate is 32 per minute? That is insane!

Am I insane? Apparently so, well, that is according all those who drove by while I was jogging this morning. Today's not so bad, not like last week, but it was still cold. But that's motivation to run faster right? I think I should get a pair of ear muffs though cuz for some reason, the ears just don't warm up even when the rest of the body does. Every once in a while I would pass by a little chirp standing on a bare branch. Poor thing! Where do they live? Don't they usually live in trees to keep warm? But there are no leaves now!!! I couldn't help but wonder how the little friends are doing this winter since it's particularly cold. Winter is so harsh on little animals. If I were a little bird, I would migrate south. I hope winter ends soon, cuz these poor little friends, they must be cold and hungry!
